I thought I’d let you know that currently I’m writing the follow up, Sherry and Glenn’s story. Sherry is Lisa’s big sister and a cop, and Glenn is Dan’s younger brother who’s an ex pro-basketball player. They met at the airport at the end of Bonkers/EH and locked horns over an incident involving a golf bag and a banana. Time has not mellowed them and they do a whole lot more than lock horns when they meet again. Sherry’s ice queen act still drives Glenn nuts and Glenn still makes Sherry want to do things that well, frankly, an intelligent, professional woman shouldn’t want to do. I was actually writing another story but they took up residence in my head and badgered me until I gave in. I’ve learned that books have a “time”, and this was obviously Sherry and Glenn’s. They’ve moved into my life, and my family’s lives, it’s like having two more people in the house who leave until I type THE END and send the manuscript off to Lorain Day at HarperCollins.
Yes, you will get to see how Lisa and Dan are doing and they’ll be a few more Bonkers/EH characters who’ll be making a reappearance. I haven’t settled on a title yet but the book is due for release sometime towards the end of 2010. I’ll keep you posted on progress and when I finally manage to evict them.
Best Wishes,
Michelle

I just finished Bonkers last night. I loved it and am excited you are writing Sherry and Glenn’s story.
I live in the US; is there an easy way to buy your other books? I bought Bonkers through bookcloseouts.com.

Hi Lee,
Thanks for dropping me a line about Bonkers, I love hearing from readers and am glad you enjoyed it. Glenn and Sherry’s story is progressing really well, they’re doing things I didn’t have planned for them which makes my life harder but adds to the fun. You can purchase my second book Divine on Amazon.com but they don’t have Knotted, my latest, available yet. I’ll contact you to see if I can arrange a way to get it to you. Hope you have a Happy New Year!
Best Wishes,
Michelle

Hi Johanna,
Thanks for contacting me. How can I not have a happy new year when I get such great messages? Droemer, the German publisher that bought Bonkers is buying my third book, Knotted. I’m not sure when it will be published but perhaps if you give them a call they might have an idea of the release date.
Best Wishes,
Michelle
By the way, you English is excellent – much better than my German!

THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU…Read your book Bonkers today….Couldn’t put it down….I’m so glad you have a sequel on the go.
So looking forward to Sherry and Glenn’s story, and of course Dan and Lisa. I can’t get the song “Unwell” out of my head. I’m now looking forward to reading Divine and Knotted. Once again Thankyou

Hi Grace,
Thanks for your message. I have the same problem when I hear the song “Unwell”, I can’t get it out of my head either and the words are just perfect for describing poor Lisa’s predicament. I’m a big fan of Matchbox Twenty. I usually have a song that I associate with each book – Glenn and Sherry’s is Op Shop’s “Maybe” so I’ve got that playing over and over in my head at the moment. Just as well I like Op Shop so much. Hope you enjoy Divine and Knotted.
Best Wishes,
Michelle

Oh I noticed that I worte a mistake in my message before. Because I take the book Bonkers for somehing else than it is…I confused it with ‘Einfach Himmlisch’ in German but it is the same, I see… so I’m sorry…

Hi Michelle, your books are great (I’ve read Bonkers and Divine) and I’m currently halfway through Knotted. I’ve been up reading after work each night (ie late) ’cause if I read your books at work people look at me funny when I start laughing. Looking forward to your next one as well.

Hi Teena,
Great! I love it when people say they’re not cooking dinner/doing housework/staying up reading when they should be sleeping because they’re reading one of my books – it’s the best compliment anybody could give me plus I’m exactly the same when I’m reading something I really enjoy. I was shopping in Countdown one day when a man complained to me because his wife was reading one of my books and hadn’t cooked dinner all weekend. As you can imagine, I was deeply upset. I hope you like Knotted and get some sleep soon, I’m halfway through the next book and it’s making me smile so fingers crossed it will you too.
Cheers,
Michelle

Kia ora Iris,
Thanks for your message. Actually, the whanau members of the book I’m writing at the moment aren’t new because they’re the Jacksons and Brogans from Bonkers. I’m having fun revisiting them. I’m not sure of the title yet but the book should be out around November so keep an eye out for it. Hope you enjoy knotted.
Ka kite ano,
Michelle

Hi Michelle,
I have really enjoyed all three of your books and eagerly await number 4. I love the New Zealand settings and the humour, although my husband looks puzzled, and my sons are very embarassed when I laugh out loud while reading. (Mind you, it is my mission in life to embarass my sons, to get my own back for all the times they embarassed me when they were younger!! Roll on November.

Hi Trish,
I am totally with you re embarassing the kids. I am keeping a stockpile of stories for 18th and 21st birthdays and plan to stand on the table next to the cake if necessary to make sure everybody hears me. I am on the home stretch writing #4 and I’m really pleased with it so I hope you like it too. Thanks so much for dropping me a line, it’s what keeps me writing at 3 o’clock in the morning. My husband has moved on from puzzled looks to tolerant smiles. Not sure if that is better.
Cheers,
Michelle.

Just wanted you to know that I love your books. When I reach the end of each one I feel like I’ve made new friends – the characters are just so alive. The ‘kiwiness’ makes the books even more special, and I get a real kick out of the humour – nothing like a good laugh! Can’t wait for the next book.

Hi Jill,
Thank you!I think I’ll finish #4 this week (fingers/eyes crossed). Hope it makes you smile.

Hi Michelle!
I’ve just finished your book “Bonkers”. It was gorgeous. There were so much moments I laughed and chuckled at. It’s absolutly the type of a romantic comedy book i’d love to read.
Got the book at my last birthday from my mom. Now she’s going to read it… and I bet she’ll love it like I do.
I saw that a second of your books is already published here in Germany. On Monday I’ll take a walk to the next bookstore.
Can’t wait for Sherry’s and Glenn’s story. I think they absolutly match together.
And it also would be exciting seeing Lisa and Dan on screen?!
I send you greetings from Germany….

Hi Viki,
Greetings from Downunder. I am in awe of people who speak a second language and feel ashamed that I can only manage one. So glad you liked Bonkers and hope your mother enjoys it too. I got your message just as I was finishing Glenn and Sherry’s story which is due for release here in New Zealand in November. I think the other one of my books you were talking about is Herzkurven (Knotted). I believe the german translation is being released in October. Still no word on Bonkers making it to the big screen but I live in hope!
Best Wishes,
Michelle

Ello there!
I’m from Germany and my mum’s just discoverd ‘Bonkers’. She has finished within 2 days and kind of forced me to read it aswell. I have to admit that I was pretty sceptical. I just didn’t think that it would be the kind of books I’m usually reading, but the first chapter proved me wrong! It is a page turner, literally! I really enjoyed it.
What a pity that we still have to wait ’til ‘Knotted’ is finally being released here in Germany.
Hope to be able to read much more of your books.
Keep it up!
Greetings from Germany,
Abby

Hi Abby,
Kia ora from Downunder and thank you very much for your message – you made my day! Please give your mum a hug from me. I think you’ll like Knotted, Ross and Danny (Daneka) are two of my favourite characters. It’s being released on October 4th which is my birthday so I’m celebrating on the 4th and the 5th because that’ll be the 4th in Germany. Bonkers is the first of three books, I’ve written Sherry and Glenn’s story and that is being released in New Zealand on November 1st as “Barefoot”. Alot of people who read Bonkers kept asking if Dan and Lisa had their baby and wanted to know how the Jacksons and Brogans were doing. Hopefully, Barefoot will one day be translated into German too. Be sure to let me know what you think of Knotted.
Best Wishes,
Michelle
