So I’m rewarding myself with a new bike – a Sarah Ulmer Zero 2. I have been so flat out editing and writing that I haven’t had time to post or do much of anything. I did sign up to Facebook and I’ve met some great people. It’s been cold here in the Waikato, lots of frosts followed by beautiful sunny days and crackling fires at night – perfect weather to sip a glass of wine and dream up new stories. It’s finding the time to write them that poses the problem. I do alot of brainstorming on long drives and came up with another story to go with one I had been mulling over the last time I drove up to Auckland. I’m not so good at doing that while riding a bike though…
Aston Martins – I had to research them for my next book and took my son along to help which makes me the best mother in the world. I’m not a car person, as long as it gets me from A to B, I’m happy but even I could see how beautiful these cars were and fell in love with the DB9 Coupe which Greg Brinck, the General Sales Manager at Independent Prestige showed me. Nothing was too much trouble, he didn’t bat an eyelid at my questions, no matter how weird (even the one about the chinchilla). He actually came up with some better ideas. I’m still trying to get my head around the “ECU”. No, nothing to do with the European Community, it stands for Emotional Control Unit – I’m not making it up – and is the name of the little black box used to start the DB9. When Greg told me, and I realised he was serious, it was one of those moments that I think of as pure gold i.e. the possibilities of what I could do with it in a book are endless.
For those of you in the middle of winter, enjoy those cosy nights around a fire and for you people up there in the Northern Hemisphere make the most of summer – it’s our turn soon!
Cheers, Michelle.

I wish! No, I’m what’s known as a “pantser” i.e. not a plotter. Thank you for the kind comment!
